3 Nepalese men held for Manali gang rape
Manali, June 6
The Kullu police on Thursday arrested three Nepalese men for allegedly gang-raping a 30-year-old US national in Manali on June 3 and seized the tipper used by them for perpetrating the crime.

Another JeM militant killed as Pulwama gunbattle ends
Anantnag, June 6
The 19-hour gunbattle between militants and security forces in Pulwama district of south Kashmir ended this afternoon with the killing of a holed-up ultra, taking the number of militants killed to two. Divisional commander of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit Altaf Baba alias ‘Gazi Baba’ was killed in the encounter yesterday.

Defence deals: Indian pvt sector joins hands with foreign firms

Top Indian private sector groups have begun pitching for defence deals by joining hands with major foreign firms. One deal available for grabs is a just-announced Rs 12,000 crore order of the Indian Air Force to replace its 56 vintage Avro aircraft. The groups going for this deal include the Tatas, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Bharat Forge and Mukesh Ambani’s new aerospace firm.

North, South Korea move to end rupture in ties
Seoul, June 6
North and South Korea today agreed to hold talks on reopening a jointly run factory complex and possibly other issues, after months of deteriorating relations and a day before a US-China summit in which the North is expected to be a key topic. (Details on world page)

Fresh US waiver to India over Iran sanctions
The US on Wednesday exempted India and eight other nations from sanctions, noting that they had significantly reduced their imports of crude oil from Iran. “The United States and the international community stand shoulder to shoulder in maintaining pressure on the Iranian regime until it fully addresses concerns about its nuclear programme,” said Secretary of State John F. Kerry.
