IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla resigned from the post ahead of the BCCI’s working committee meeting tomorrow that may see the exit of president N Srinivasan in the wake of spot-fixing controversy surrounding the IPL.

The Congress top leadership today decided to explore ways to push the stalled Food Security Bill and Land Acquisition Bill by consulting its allies and other political parties to discuss the possibility of a special session of Parliament to enact these welfare measures.

Punjab plans major sops for industry
Chandigarh, June 1

The concessions include waiving of VAT, stamp duty, electricity duty, property tax, and certain other fee and charges.

Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy has been brought back as executive chairman to revive the fortunes of the software exporter that was once a technology bellwether, but is now struggling. The company has lost market share to its rivals such as Tata Consultancy Services and HCL Technologies.

Reacting to some media articles in India expressing doubts about Nawaz Sharif's ability to pursue an independent line of thinking on his country's ties with India, Islamabad today reaffirmed that the Pakistan Prime Minister designate was genuinely committed to taking forward the peace process between the two countries.

Maoists kill CRPF officer in C’garh
Raipur, June 1
A CRPF officer was today killed in an encounter with suspected Maoists in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. Assistant Commandant SK Das was leading a squad of his men in the forests of Gariaband, 150 km from here, when the patrol encountered an armed Maoist squad around 3 pm. Das succumbed to bullet injuries which he had received in his abdomen and groin region, sources said.
