Pressure mounts on Srini as two key BCCI members quit

Mumbai/New Delhi, May 31
In a severe blow to BCCI president N Srinivasan, two top board officials today resigned piling more pressure on him to step down in the wake of the spot-fixing scandal. BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale and treasurer Ajay Shirke sent their resignations to Srinivasan saying they were “deeply hurt” by recent developments in cricket.

Chennai hotelier appears before police
Mumbai, May 31
Chennai hotelier Vikram Aggarwal wanted in the spot-fixing case appeared before the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police for questioning this morning, sources said. Aggarwal appeared at the Crime Branch office in response to summons issued to him earlier this week, the police said.

Punjab Govt fixes cane SAP at Rs 290
Chandigarh, May 31
The Punjab Government on Friday announced a state agreed price (SAP) for sugarcane for the 2013-14 crushing season. While the price for the advanced variety will be Rs 290 per quintal, the medium and late varieties will fetch farmers Rs 280 and Rs 275 per quintal, respectively.

The Indian economy had its worst year in a decade as growth rate slumped to 5 per cent on account of slowing consumption hit by inflation and lack of investment due to slow project clearance and low investor confidence.
