Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed outrage over Sarabjit Singh’s death and attacked Pakistan for not heeding to India’s pleas for taking a humanitarian view of the Indian death row convict’s case. The BJP went a step further and demanded the scaling down of diplomatic relations with Islamabad.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Union Minister of Home Affairs Sushilkumar Shinde today met the distraught family of Sarabjit Singh, who died in a Lahore hospital late night yesterday following a brutal assault in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Pakistan.

8% DA hike for Haryana staff
Chandigarh, May 2
Haryana Finance Minister HS Chatha today announced an 8 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) of state government employees. The hike from existing 72 per cent to 80 per cent will be effective from January 1, 2013.

Consumer’s complaint: Tata Motors’ MD gets jail
Chandigarh, May 2
The Nano management, Tata Motors Limited, is in trouble. The Chandigarh State Consumer Redressal Commission has refused to show leniency towards Tata Motors Limited; and has sentenced its managing director Karl Slym to simple imprisonment for six months. It has also directed him to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 for “contumacious defiance” of a previous order and other related issues.
