P Chidambaram talks to mediapersons on the finance bill in New Delhi on TuesdayWealth tax won’t be levied on agricultural land even if it is located in the vicinity of urban centres within municipal limits. The government made this clear in the Lok Sabha today by introducing an amendment to the Finance Bill 2013 and stating that wealth tax was to be imposed only on urban lands.

Petrol price slashed by Rs 3 per litre
New Delhi, April 30
In a major relief to the consumers, petrol prices were slashed by Rs 3 per litre today. The steepest cut in the petrol prices over the past five years came following continuing fall in crude prices in the global market.

SC lambasts CBI, government over coal scam report
New Delhi, April 30
The Supreme Court today said the “intrusion” by Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and officials of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Coal Ministry into the CBI probe into the coal allocation scam “has shaken the entire process” and asked CBI Director Ranjit Sinha to give all details in this regard within a week.
