Breakfast notes
Despite our best efforts, despite the hundred theories supporting why breakfast is an important meal of the day or why one should eat breakfast like a king, this is one meal we conveniently ignore. Excuses come in different forms---I hate eating early, I don't get the time to eat a leisurely breakfast,
etc.etc. Restaurants, cafes and hotels have whipped up their menus and have given breakfast a lavish space, but how often would you take out time to catch the buffet breakfast spread? On International Breakfast Day we bring the best on the breakfast table, from in and around
Chandigarh.
Comic effect
When we mention the word Jodi, the expression that comes to your mind is 'made for each other'. Indeed, a look at Krushna Abhishek and Sudesh Lehri convinces you that the dynamic duo is much more than partners in 'comedy'. In Chandigarh to enthrall the audience with their hilarious gags in the 'Connect Super Jodi -Grand Finale', the jocular jodi manages to spread their infectious laughter with their act.
Creative streak
He wouldn't really know the exact source of inspiration, but tilted towards the left, hidden inside a cage (made of ribs) is this reddish pink organ, the heart. Exactly, the heart! This is where the songs come from. This is the place I look into whenever I have to create a track.” Sachin Gupta, the music director of Mere Dad Ki Maruti, cannot pinpoint as how he makes music other than the fact that everything he does, comes straight from his heart.

Women in a man’s world
The battle of sexes has resulted in creating a divide of thought and expression, which is predominantly either that of a male or a female. At the Museum of Fine Arts, Panjab University, as many as 18 male artists from across the nation exhibit their works of genius at the exhibition titled Pratibimba 1…inseparable mutuality, wherein they celebrate the concept of mutual interdependence of both the sexes.

Summer sensations
When we talk about planting bulbs, the only plant that comes to mind is gladiolus. But it is essentially a winter flower, though there are a few inferior types available even for the summer. Do we have some good bulbous plants for summers? I know the question may appear to be elementary but for an amateur, this would be a good piece of information. Yes, there are many to choose from, like hippeastrum (amaryllis lily), zephyranthes lily, tuberose, day lily etc for the summer.
Future Shock
It’s pouring gadgets
Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was a boisterous affair. There were gadgets of all varieties, from all countries, suiting all categories. Many companies launched new products for the mobile user. They were different in many ways and similar in most. However, for all categories-phones, computers, laptops and tablets-there were some winners. Here’s a list of some of the drool-worthy ones seen there.
Tried & tasted
With an array of delectable international cuisines made available in Chandigarh, you can sure pamper the connoisseur in you. Give Punjabi tadka a break and savour the flavours of Italian, Tex-Mex, Japanese, Thai and the most favourite Chinese food at various joints in the city!
All messed up!
‘I love your new haircut’, ‘That hair colour is a killer’ ‘You look so much younger’! Don’t you just love to hear it when you step out of a salon with something new ?
Surely, the blue streaks of Anushka Sharma and purple of Priyanka Chopra have brought yet another trend. Wet look, low ponytail and retro rocked last year. What is new this year? Praveen, hairstylist, Headmasters Salon-8, Chandigarh, says “Emo haircut with lot of layers is in. This unisex hair cut gives you a very young look and you can opt for any length,” he says. “Another hit is the ultra long hair. But if you are bold, go for a bob,” he adds.
