Cong workers celebrate Bajwa’s elevation
Jalandhar, March 6
Congress workers expressed their happiness over the elevation of Partap Singh Bajwa as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief at a function organised at the District Congress Committee (DCC) complex in Rajinder Nagar today.

Congress workers said the appointment of Bajwa as PPCC chief had enthused party rank and file and it would go a long way in giving a tough fight to the ruling SAD-BJP combine in the state. “All workers are happy and feel that now an effective fight would be launched against the high-handedness of the ruling party,” said PPCC secretary Varinder Sharma.

“The party rank and file is now bubbling with enthusiasm. Bajwa will definitely make a mark in his new avataar. The reaction of workers is so spontaneous,” said PPCC secretary Dr Ram Lal Jassi.

The DCC president, Arun Walia, said the party would continue to protect rights of the downtrodden. Others present included Naresh Verma, Gurpreet Bobby, Satnam Bitta and Kunal Sharma. — TNS
