Farm loan scam: PM promises strict action

As Parliament today witnessed uproar by members, who cut across party lines in demanding indictment of the swindlers in the farm loan waiver scheme in the wake of CAG report, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh promised “stringent possible action” against defaulters, if any.

J&K Govt sticks with tax sops in ‘welfare budget’
Jammu, March 6
With an eye on the 2014 Assembly elections, Jammu and Kashmir Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather on Wednesday presented a “welfare budget” by focusing on infrastructure development, welfare initiatives and continuation of tax concessions.

AirAsia-Tata joint venture gets govt nod to start new airline

Paving the way for the entry of first foreign airline in the domestic skies, the Finance Ministry today cleared the investment proposal of Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia through a three-way joint venture with Tata Group and Arun Bhatia, related to steel tycoon LN Mittal.
