Gang-rape trial begins, victim’s friend testifies

New Delhi, February 5
The 28-year-old male friend of the girl, who was brutally gangraped in a moving bus here, today appeared before a fast-track court here to testify about the incident to which he is the sole eyewitness.

New Delhi, February 5

Punjab Cabinet approves 20 fast-track courts

Chandigarh, February 5
The Punjab Cabinet today approved setting up of 20 fast-track courts for speedy trial of cases of heinous crimes against women. It also gave nod to the creation of 20 additional posts of Superior Judicial Services along with supporting staff to provide immediate justice to women.

J-K rock band row: Case slapped on online abusers
Srinagar, February 5
Days after the first all-girl band of Kashmir gave up, the state police has formally registered a case against online abusers who had threatened the girls. The case has been registered at the Rajbagh police station against unidentified abusers under Section 66A of the Information Technology Act and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Ranbir Penal Code.
