New Delhi, January 17
The government decisively acted on deregulation of diesel pricing on Friday by allowing oil companies to raise prices periodically and increased the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders from six per year per household to nine.

Khar’s talk offer doesn’t enthuse India

Though it acknowledges that tension with Pakistan has eased somewhat after yesterday’s meeting between the DGMOs of the two countries, India is not enthused by Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar’s proposal for talks between the foreign ministers at this stage.

LoC peaceful after DGMOs’ parleys
New Delhi, January 17
Some semblance of peace has been restored along the volatile Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir after the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan spoke to each other yesterday. The Indian DGMO Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia and his counterpart Maj Gen Ashfaq Nadeem had spoken to each other on Wednesday on the hotline.

CDMA spectrum base price halved to attract bidders
New Delhi, January 17
The cabinet cleared a 50 per cent cut in the auction reserve price for Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) spectrum on Thursday, a move which may not be enough to still attract the pure CDMA operators to bid for the airwaves in the auction slated for March.
