New Delhi/ Jammu, January 10
India believes that any hasty step on its part in the wake of the killing of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani troops would not only hurt the nascent dialogue process but also weaken the civilian regime in Islamabad. The Pakistan Government, on the other hand, continued its aggressive stance and suspended the trans-LoC trade from the Poonch-Rawalkote route and also refused to respond to hotline messages from the Indian side.

Naxals plant bomb in dead jawan’s body
Ranchi/New Delhi, January 10
A 1.5 kg bomb was planted by Maoists inside the stomach of a CRPF jawan killed in an encounter with the rebels in a brutal tactic perhaps used for the first time by Naxals in the country.

Unabated cold wave kills 16 more in UP
Lucknow, January 10
The mercury remained at sub-zero levels in at least five districts of Uttar Pradesh claiming 16 more lives over the past 24 hours taking the death toll due to the bitter cold to 249. According to reports from the metrological office, Gorakhpur and Ghazipur clocked -1°C and remained the coldest places in the state followed by Lucknow at -0.7°C.
