New Delhi, December 27
A 42-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men and dumped in south-east Delhi last night.

The woman, who hails from Jaipur, said she was raped in Uttar Pradesh and dumped in the Kalkaji area last night. She then called her friend, who took her to the police station. The police took the victim to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a medical examination that has confirmed rape.

The police has registered a case and detained Dileep Verma, one of the three accused, from Agra. He has been brought to Delhi for interrogation, Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said. Verma claimed he had known the victim for the last five years.

The victim had gone to Vrindavan on December 22 and was returning home yesterday. She claimed she met Verma there and he accompanied her in a car to her hometown. On the way, Verma's two friends joined them.

"She told us that she was gagged, sedated and raped by the trio. They took turns to rape her," a senior police official said.

A case of gang-rape under section 376(G) has been registered. Three teams have been formed and are raiding several places to catch the other two accused.

In Singapore, victim very critical

A multi-disciplinary team of specialists is taking care of her and doing everything possible to stabilise her condition," said Dr Kelvin Loh, Chief Executive Officer of the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
