Jats call off quota stir after talks with Hooda

Chandigarh December 17
The Sarv Jat Khap Mahapanchayat (SJKM) today decided to call off the quota stir after its leaders met with Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here.

Jat and other pro-quota leaders said they were “satisfied” with the outcome of talks and had decided to call off the stir, which began yesterday from Narwana in Jind. SJKM president Nafe Singh Nain said the mahapanchayat had decided to suspend the agitation in the backdrop of an assurance by the Chief Minister that the government would soon issue a notification of 10 per cent quota under special class category.

Akhil Bhartiya Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti state chief Hawa Singh Sangwan termed the talks with the CM as “fruitful”, but khaps are divided over the calling off of the agitation at this juncture. — TNS
