ITBP men among 12 dead in Kinnaur bus accident

Shimla, October 11
At least 12 persons, including two Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel were killed, and 27 others seriously injured when a bus rolled down into a gorge near Tapri in the tribal district of Kinnaur on Thursday.

The ill fated bus was on its way from Reckong Peo to Kullu via Keylong. The cause of the accident is still not known. The condition of some of the injured is stated to be critical. “The mishap took place at about 6.30 pm. The bus plunged into a gorge and landed on the banks of Sutlej, killing 12 persons, including 2 ITBP men” said SP Kinnaur, Veena Bharti. Rescue operations were hampered due to darkness. —TNS
