Together we can
Women are trained to be givers in our men-centric world, but with changing times they expect the men to share equal responsibility
Man's love is of man's life a part; it is a woman's whole existence, wrote Lord Byron, one of the most widely read British poets, a few centuries ago. The very sentiment is repeated by one of the finest American actress Meryl
Streep, when she recently gave the statement, “Women make a religion of relationships. They study how to make them work, while men do not, as a
generalisation.” Do women give more in relationships? Are they able to, especially now, in the changed scenario when they also go out and handle work pressure, while also shouldering the household responsibility? We check out…
Women are more giving by nature, believes Garima Singh, Additional Commissioner, Income Tax. “For a beautiful, perfect relationship both the partners need to put in efforts,” says
Garima. Things might not pan out to be a total 50:50 ratio always though. “So it’s important to understand each others’ perspective towards jobs as well as life. That works in the longer run,” says this officer, whose husband SSP Naunihal Singh also agrees to the fact.
Language no bar
Discovery Science will now run a parallel 24-hour channel in Hindi
Language need not be barrier for anything, the least for science. The fact that there cannot be an easy Hindi word for remote control and so many of its like, need not be a reason to not go ahead with the rest of the translation. Come October and Discovery Science will have a parallel 24-hour channel running in Hindi. “Our language experience worked well for other Discovery channels. So we wanted to go ahead and give our viewers unbarred access to Discovery Science,” shares Rahul
Johri, vice-president, Discovery Networks, Asia-Pacific. New

It boils down to character...
Actor Manav Vij, who will soon be seen in Punjabi movie Sarsa, says he likes to do character roles…
It is experimentation in life and profession that keeps most people going. It is the risk that adds that extra zing to their life. And when these people take to the silver screen, all they care about is the ‘performance’.
Manav Vij, television and Punjabi film actor, is all for roles that will give him a wide space to explore his talent. And he does so with his upcoming movie
Sarsa, which has been directed by Jatinder Mauhar and stars Gul Panag with Kartar
Cheema.

The year ahead
If your birthday is October 2...
Your birthday falls this year on the third day of Shradh Paksha[fortnight of Shradhs spanning from September 30 to October 15]. The day assures much scope at work front. You need to be willing to make adjustments in your personal life. In general, this year will not be a auspicious to start new ventures. You will speak to a superior about a misunderstanding, which has put you in a bad light. Fortunately you will manage to clear things up. You are hesitant and impatient towards a friend who is not interested in you. Don't wear yourself down and look elsewhere.

Erase the line
Most people get tensed looking at the mirror while finding visible marked lines for the first time on their face. Crow's feet are referred to the clusters of wrinkles that appear around the outer corners of eyes as skin ages and lose elasticity. These are an early manifestation of the aging process for men and women. These wrinkles are usually made up of a few lines branching out, and they resemble the foot of a bird, hence the name crow's feet.

Pet passion
Bundle of Jo(e)y
Staying in hostels and working in the metropolitans, there was only an in-between time when they could have a pet. Did the boys not make the most of it?
"Our parents were a little apprehensive initially and before this we were in hostels, so we anyway couldn’t keep a dog. Once I was in college and one fine day, my brother got him,” laughs Bhavpreet Singh, software engineer and former student of Rayat and Bahra College of Engineering.

Mmmm.....mushrooms!
Okay okay, I know this is a fungus of sorts, but I love mushrooms! Mushrooms can provide more than just taste and texture for our meals. They actually have a surprisingly high nutritional value too. They are excellent for weight loss and lowering blood pressure. It may surprise you to learn that mushrooms. Out rank bananas on the potassium chart ! So, people with hypertension or a high risk of stroke can enjoy tremendous health benefits from a regular dose of mushrooms in their diet. My all-time favourite is this delicious creamy mushroom soup which is essentially a French recipe. Given that, it has a glug of white wine in it, but that can be replaced with a vegetable or chicken stock. The egg yolks also help make the soup richer but can be omitted where necessary.
Bollywood bound
Southern superstar Prithviraj, who makes his Bollywood debut with Anurag Kashyap's Aiyyaa, is keen to work with the big names of Hindi cinema.

The actor is a popular name down South and has successful films like Stop Violence,

Aiyyaa. He is currently busy shooting for Yash Raj Films' Aurangzeb and is in talks for his third film.

Everyone wants to be Shah Rukh, Salman: Bajpayee
Manoj Bajpayee feels that he cannot advise wannabes because most of them want to ape the likes of Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan and his suggestions would fall on deaf years. "I don't think anyone wants to become Manoj
Bajpayee, everyone wants to become Shah Rukh, Salman and any message from me to them will be of no value," said Manoj when he was asked what message would he like to give to youngsters who look up to him.
