Long live the jatt
The Punjabi film industry rocks today and so do the comedies. Cashing-in on the trend is yet another movie — Jatt Airways. The story of two real brothers (played by Alfaaz and Padam) set to marry two real sisters (played by Tulip Joshi and Smriti Khanna); with fathers chasing their wards and the villain creating chaos, it is set to be a madcap romcom!

Back on campus
The trend of only family dramas and love stories dominating Indian television defies a very strong logic. Back in 1993, Banegi Apni Baat hit the TV screens and became an instant hit among youngsters. Its successful run lasted for five years without any sob story or skirmishes between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. It had love stories; all very real, nobody died for anybody in love.

A recipe for
He probably knows a lot about luv shuv, but when it comes to chicken, the sinfully sexy looking Kunal Kapoor cannot cook to save his life! Moving around in Punjab for the promotion of his upcoming movie Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, the actor from Amritsar doesn’t need to be told about the dil khol key eating habits of Punjabis. “Tell me about it,” he laughs Punjabi style, “the minute I am done with breakfast, I start thinking about what I will have for lunch and dinner is on the mind the moment lunch is over.”
All that bling
It’s influx of retail, riding high on the wedding season. Just when we thought it was full stops for this session, yet another lifestyle exhibition, Zaira Fashion Affair 2012, comes calling.
A musical team
Very rarely does a talent run in the entire family, but in the case of singers Mapuia Poonte, Caryn Poonte (19) and Joan Poonte (16), the same holds true. Mapuia, the father of these young girls, belongs to Mizoram and was identified by Naresh Jacob of Vibrations band. The latter also promoted Poorvi Koutish, the young voice of Chandigarh, who participated in Indian Idol Season 6 and did very well.

An outdoor experience
This is the season of pleasant evenings and good food. And to make things more appetising Hotel Hometel Chandigarh re-launches its open-air barbeque restaurant Terrace Grill. While it’s the cool breeze and whiff from the live kitchen that makes this experience worthwhile, the ambience, music and miniature lanterns placed on the tables add to the experience.
