Hisar gang rape: Seven more in police net
Tribune News Service & PTI

Hisar, September 26
The Haryana Police today said it had arrested seven more persons, including accomplices of the key accused, in connection with the gang rape of a teenage Dalit girl of Dabra village in the district while teams have been sent to other states to nab the remaining accused.

Haryana Director General of Police RS Dalal said five persons were arrested from Almora in Uttarakhand, including three main accused -- Vikas, Rajkumar and Pawan -- against whom an FIR was registered. Two more persons were arrested from elsewhere for allegedly giving shelter to the culprits, he said. With this, the total number of arrests has risen to nine.

Dalal said Hisar Superintendent of Police B Satheesh Balan had been directed to approach the District and Sessions Judge with a request to constitute a fast-track court so that a decision could be taken in the case within three months to provide timely justice to members of the victim's family and punishment to the accused. The victim's family has been provided security, he said.

Balan said the arrested persons had confessed to their involvement in the incident. They will be produced before a court here tomorrow, he said.

The Uttarakhand Police helped Hisar police in arresting the culprits, he said, adding that police teams had been sent to other states, including Rajasthan, to nab the remaining three accused.

Meanwhile, some villagers of village Dabra today met district administration and demanded release of one of the arrested persons, saying he was not present in the village when the incident occurred.

The teenage Dalit girl was allegedly raped by a group of youths over a fortnight back and the culprits had threatened to make public her objectionable pictures, following which her shocked father committed suicide. — PTI

Jind woman gang-raped in her house

Pillukhera (Jind), Sept 26
Days after a teenage Dalit girl was gang raped in Hisar district earlier this month, a married woman in nearby Jind district has alleged that she was gang raped at gunpoint last Friday by three youths inside her house.

In her complaint to the police, the victim said three youths barged into her Railway Colony house in Pillukhera, 30 km from Jind, on September 21 (Friday) when she was alone at home and raped her at gunpoint.

The medical examination of the woman confirmed rape. The police registered a case of rape following her complaint. Two persons, including one of the three accused, have been arrested. Women cops in civil dress were posted at quarter number two of the Railway Colony here today after the 26-year-old victim and her husband, a mason, met the district police chief and requested for security since two of the accused were still absconding. The couple along with their daughter had shifted into the rented house some months ago.

Both the victim and her husband refused to talk to mediapersons saying it would unnecessarily defame them.

Reports in the local media said the victim was gang raped in front of her husband and child and an MMS of the incident was circulated soon after, but police sources said she was alone at the time of the incident. SSP Saurabh Singh also said there was no report of an MMS clip.

The SSP said the police were investigating the case from all angles after speaking to the couple’s neighbours. One of the neighbours, who rushed to the victim’s help, said the accused were known to the woman.

“The police have arrested two persons, including one of the accused identified as Suraj, who was booked under sections 376, 120-B and 452 of the IPC,” said SSP Saurabh Singh. Azad, the father of another accused, has also been arrested.

The house owner, who is a station master, has reportedly asked the couple to vacate the house.
