Student leader shot dead in Hamirpur Hamirpur, September 26 Rohit Kumar (20), a student of B Com II year and campus vice president of the SFI, was attacked while he was on his way to college along with his friends. Arun Kumar, who was accompanying him, said Rohit was cornered and waylaid by five person riding motorcycles who appeared from nowhere as soon as he alighted from a bus. They were apparently waiting from him. The victim fell down after the attack. He bled profusely for some time and later succumbed to his injuries. Rohit hailed from Masoorha (Shah Talai) village.According to information, the attack was a sequel to an eve-teasing incident which took place a few days back. The attackers were stopped by the victim and a few other students from teasing a girl student after which they were handed out a threat. The threat was carried out by them by executing a planned attack on Rohit Kumar and his friends. Such planned attacks are rare in the peaceful hill state. Madhusudan, SP, Hamirpur, said, “The Badsar police has registered a case of murder under section 302 of the IPC and arrested three accused, namely Dinesh Kumar and Sandeep Kumar (both brothers) and Ajay Kumar of Jaral village in this case. They are all students." Joginder Kumar, district secretary of the CPM, has strongly condemned the murder of the SFI activist and said that such daylight murder of a student leader was indicative of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
