Starting off with the next phase of the review of the undeveloped coal blocks, the Inter Ministerial Group (IMG) on coal has issued notices to public sector undertakings (PSUs) to present their side of the story for delays in developing the blocks.

Sources in the Coal Ministry said 31 notices have been issued to various PSUs to give presentations before the IMG, which is scheduled to meet on October 9 and 10 here.

The move to issue notices to the PSUs comes after the IMG reviewed 29 blocks allotted to the private sector earlier this month. The IMG had recommended the de-allocation of 12 blocks while penalising another 14 with the deduction of their bank guarantee.

Sources said while on October 9, PSUs with the possession of 15 coal blocks would make their presentations, on October 10, 16 coal block holders would make their presentations before the IMG.
