Yamunanagar, September 12
Five member of a family committed suicide by jumping before a passenger train near the Gandhi Nagar railway crossing here today.

The family comprising Paramjit Singh, his wife Narinder Kaur, elder son Pritpal Singh, daughter Kirtpal Kaur and younger son Harjinder Singh jumped before the Saharanpur-bound passenger train near the Gandhi Nagar crossing.

When the matter was reported to the police, a team of senior officials rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. The police said though the motive behind the suicides could not be conformed, preliminary queries reveal that family’s financial standing had not been good for the last few months. Paramjit Singh was finding it hard to make both ends meet.

“This could be a reason for the family’s suicide”, said one of the senior police officials present at the incident site. The police is investigating the incident.
