Gurgaon, August 1
In a major breakthrough, the Gurgaon police today succeeded in arresting the 10 remaining office-bearers of the labour union of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Manesar, who were the key accused in the July 18 mayhem.

The police had already arrested two office-bearers earlier who have been produced in court.

“The accused were arrested by the joint effort of SIT and police officials from Jind and Kaithal while they were planning to run away to Rajasthan,” said Haryana Director General of Police Ranjeev Singh Dalal.

“The police also conducted raids at various places in Haridwar, Ranchi, Rajasthan and Haryana. The persons arrested today will be produced in court on Thursday. We will demand police remand for them to determine whether the attack was preplanned or not.

“The arrest marks the success of our investigation,” added DGP Dalal patting the back of the Gurgaon police for the achievement.

Those arrested today were chief patron Sandeep Dhillon, president Rammehar, vice-president Sohan Singh, general secretary Sarvjeet Singh, cashier Suresh Kumar, legal adviser Ajmer Singh, joint secretary Pawan Kumar and executive members Ram Bilas, Amarjeet and Pradeep Kumar.

The other two union members - organisation secretary Yogesh Yadav and executive member Dhanraj Bhambi - were arrested earlier.

Interestingly, the declaration of arrest came a few hours after there were reports of Sarvjeet Singh having surrendered. But the police refused to confirm the same.
