Illegal immigration firms, agents under scanner
Nikhil Bhardwaj

Jalandhar, July 31
The city police is all set to tighten its noose around the illegal immigration firms and fake travel agents, as they have been asked to submit their complete record within a stipulated time at the police stations concerned.

The police has already sent letters to the immigration firms’ owners operating in the city. Sources said the rising number of complaints against immigration firms was the reason which had pushed the city police to check malpractices, adding that every year, the police had been reportedly receiving more than 500 complaints from residents who were being duped by unscrupulous fake travel firms.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sarbjit Singh stated that the step was being taken to keep tabs on the illegal travel firms or study visa experts and they have been told to submit the sought record within seven days of receiving this letter from the police. In case, any agent violates police orders, strict action would be taken against him/her, he added.
