Date with the self
Deepak Vig's life is as busy as any of us. A distributor for a telecom company, his work keeps him occupied all day long and competition is fierce. Coupled with other responsibilities of family life, challenges are the order of the day. And this May, he reserved five days to brace himself for the life that lies ahead. He took up a spiritual retreat at Kasauli and came back a winner! "It's like rain and snow falls equally on every roof.

Simple, steady steps
A dimpled smile coupled with gorgeous looks is what makes Prachi Desai stand apart in Bollywood. Her latest movies, Bol Bachchan and Teri Meri Kahaani, have stamped her presence further. "Bol Bachchan has been my biggest commercial movie till date and my experience has been wonderful," she says. Prachi started her career with a television serial when she was just seventeen. "I was in my twelfth standard back in Pune when I gave the auditions for Zee TV's Kasam Se. Later, I shifted to Mumbai." Her next appearance was in the dance reality show Jhalak Dhikhlaja Season 2, which made headlines due to a controversial win of the dancing diva. "I think people started recognising that I'm quite young when I did this dance show."

Hit formula
Every second music lover had it on the ipod, every Internet buff was listening to the live jamming; we savoured every bit of Arif Lohar's Jugni and before we thought it was fading in memory, we saw it being played in the interesting mix of Cocktail (movie). The director probably decided to include Arif's Jugni in Cocktail as a trend or for that 'extra' effect and the track looks like it was made for this moment!

Creativity galore
There is something unusual about the way Varun Bahl explains his collection and the creative intentions behind it. Never once in between the conversation, he changes the decibel level of his voice. It's pretty monotonous. But is there a need to modify the tone he speaks in? Certainly not! Take a look at his collection; his designs speak more than he does. In Ludhiana, to display his collection for the festive season at AZA, a multi-designer outlet, MBD Neopolis, he talks about a bit about his creations. Rest of the talking part is of course taken up by the creations themselves.

African safari
Cocktail is not the only recent movie shot in picturesque South Africa. In last four years, there are as many as 28 movies have been shot there. This was just one information shared by Hanneli Slabber, country manager, South African Tourism. In Chandigarh on Thursday to promote her country and to announce the commencement of Module III for ‘Learn South Africa’ programme, she said why one should choose South Africa for a travel destination.

Master Chef
Cooling curing curds

Traditional medicine and Ayurveda believe some foods are warming, while others cool our body system. Instinctively too, we know which ingredients are cooling in the hot summer months. Yogurt is a highly recommended food during the hot season since it has a soothing effect on our system. Your bowels' best friend, yogurt cures intestinal disorders and flushes out toxins from the body. In summer, even cooked gravies with a yogurt base are recommended as a better alternative to the usual spicy 'masala' curry cooked with onion and garlic. Kashmiri cuisine has this gorgeous velvety yoghurt gravy which enhances almost any food you dunk into it, be it potatoes, paneer or meats. The recipe calls for dried ginger powder which is acceptable in small quantities, even though it would be considered a 'warm' infiltrator!
