Cricketers test positive for drugs

Mumbai, July 20
Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell, who were caught by the Mumbai police while they were participating at a rave party on May 20, have tested positive for drugs, the police said. They were among 92 persons who were picked up from Oakwood Hotel at Juhu during a rave party.

The two cricketers were among 40 persons whose tests results were not announced last month. Forty-four of them tested positive for drugs and their results were made public last month. Of these, 27 had consumed cannabis while the rest had consumed both Ecstasy and cannabis, according to the police.

Among the celebrities who had tested positive then included fashion designer Rocky S, television actor Apurva Agnihotri and Angad Bedi, son of former cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi.

Earlier, both Sharma and Parnell, who are part of Pune Warriors, said they were innocent and were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
