Couple booked for fraud
Jalandhar, June 22
The Mehtpur police has booked a couple for duping a villager of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of sending him abroad.
The accused have been identified as Satnam Singh and his wife Ranjit Kaur, residents of Dheena village, near Mehtpur. Jasbir Singh of Kaimwala village had complained to the police that the couple took lakhs of rupees from him for sending his nephew to Canada.
“When after a few months, I asked them to arrange a visa for my nephew, they didn’t respond properly,” he alleged to the police. A case of fraud has been registered against the couple.
