Rohtak shelter home sealed
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, June 9
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Haryana Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) MS Mann has sealed the controversy-ridden Rohtak-based shelter home, “Apna Ghar”.

The SIT was constituted by Haryana Director-General of Police Ranjeev Dalal after certain former inmates of the shelter home reportedly told a four-member committee set up by the Punjab and Haryana High Court that certain policemen were also involved in their exploitation.

The team visited the shelter home yesterday and ordered that it should be sealed to protect the record lying there. All inmates of the shelter home have already been shifted to various districts by the authorities.

The sealing process, which was carried out last night, was video-graphed by police officers. The sealing of the shelter home was felt necessary by the SIT because all the record, including donation slips, record of the inmates and other important documents were still kept in various rooms.

The Rohtak-based shelter home, being run by an NGO, Bharat Vikas Sangh, for several years, came into news after a team of the National Commission for Protection of Child Right rescued nearly 120 persons, including children and women, from here in a raid on May 9. Seven persons, including the director, have been arrested so far in this case.
