3 tigers found dead in 5 days in UP reserves
Lucknow, May 28 According to Chief Wildlife Warden Rupak De, the cause of death of the Kishnpur tiger appears to be infighting. He said the tiger’s remains bore marks of fight with another tiger. The dead tiger bore multiple fractures injuries, including a snapped spinal cord, broken hind shoulder and deep bite injuries on its body, which occur in case of infighting among tigers, he said. It appears that the two tigers fought over territory and one of them subsequently succumbed to his injures, the Wildlife Warden said. The animal’s carcass has been sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Bareilly for an autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of the tiger's death. Death of the two tigers in Pilibhit forest is a clear case of poaching for which the Forest Department has arrested eight persons.
