Talwars to be tried for murders of Aarushi, Hemraj
Parmindar Singh

Ghaziabad, May 24
A Ghaziabad court today charged dentist couple Rajesh Talwar and Nupur Talwar with murders of their daughter Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj. The framing of charges began in an in-camera session and the process will continue tomorrow.

Now the CBI theory is similar to the one put forward by the Noida police. The CBI also alleged that the Talwar couple saw their daughter in a compromising position with the servant and killed them. Nupur Talwar has, however, refuted the CBI theory.

The court ruled that Nupur Talwar and Rajesh Talwar were charged with the crime under Sections 302/34 (murder with common intention) and 201/34 (destruction of evidence with common intention) of the IPC. Rajesh Talwar was also charged with crime under Sections 203/34 (misleading the police about the crime with common intention) of the IPC.

Arguments on framing of charges concluded yesterday. The counsels of Talwars had rebutted CBI charges. CBI counsel RK Saini had, on Tuesday, sought framing of charges against the Talwars. He cited circumstantial evidence, statements of witnesses, and the “last seen” theory that maintains that the Talwars, their daughter Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj were the only persons present in the house on the night of the murders.

The CBI also argued that the Talwar couple destroyed evidence of murders by washing the walls of Aarushi’s room and dragging Hemraj’s body to the roof.
