Govt set to sidestep wildlife concerns for border road network

In a move to address the lack of strategic roads abutting the India-China frontier, India will bring in a legal provision to do away with self-created hurdles which are holding back progress on the much-needed roads used for movement of troops and equipment. This is aimed at countering China’s infrastructure.

BSF officers place a ‘chaddar’ offered by Pak Rangers at Baba Daleep Singh Manhas’s shrine at Chamliyal. Faith can move mountains, and silence guns. Ask the new priest of Hindu shrine “Baba Chamliyal,” he’ll tell you what tiny dots on the map along the Zero Line on the Indo-Pak border mean when peace descends. For him, the handing over of the shrine from the BSF to the civil administration is an act of divine intervention brought about by the combined strength of the people on both sides of the border – over four-and-a-half decades later.
