Maoists ambush, kill 6 CISF jawans

Raipur, May 13
Seven persons, including six jawans of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), were killed tonight in an ambush by Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district.

The jawans, including a head constable and five constables, were on patrol duty guarding the National Mineral Development Corporation facility in Kirandul when armed Naxals ambushed them around 9.30 pm.

Chhattisgarh ADGP (anti-naxal operations) Ram Nivas said six CISF men and a civilian driver had been killed and additional forces rushed to the spot. He said an unknown number of jawans had been injured and were being rescued from the spot.

The jawans, in a Bolero vehicle being driven by a civilian driver, were outnumbered. Maoists also took away five AK-47 rifles, one INSAS gun and a large quantity of ammunition. — PTI
