Punjab Mail derails near Rohtak, 26 hurt

Rohtak, May 6
Eight coaches of the Delhi-bound Ferozepur-Mumbai Punjab Mail derailed in Rohtak district early this morning injuring at least 26 passengers. Railway authorities have ordered a probe into the accident. The derailment occurred around 3.40 am about 15 km from here, Rohtak Range IGP Alok Mittal said.

Chidambaram for placing anti-terror body outside IB

With Chief Ministers strongly opposed to the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in its current form, the Home Ministry has no option but to remove the anti-terror body outside the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and to have a mechanism for mandatory coordination between central agencies and state police forces.

France swings Left, Hollande ousts Sarkozy as President
Paris, May 6
Francois Hollande Socialist Francois Hollande swept to victory in France's presidential election on Sunday in a swing to the left at the heart of Europe that could start a pushback against German-led austerity. Hollande was set to beat conservative incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy by a decisive 51.9 percent to 48.1 percent margin, the TNS-Sofres polling agency said in a projection based on a partial vote count.
