  • Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kotran, authorities allegedly used police force to dislodge protesting students
  • The school claimed that some students had misbehaved with teachers and no marriage party was held in school

Rajouri, May 4
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Kotranka, has suspended 75 Class XII students for allegedly protesting against an unscheduled holiday to allow use of school premises for hosting a marriage party a few days ago.

The school authorities used police force to dislodge students who had assembled on the premises to oppose the decision and were raising slogans against the authorities.

Aman, a protesting student, said, “School Principal Dinesh Kumar took help of the police to throw us out. The authorities did not spare even girl students. They were also treated badly and some of them were thrown out of the hostel.”

“We have lodged several complaints that our studies are being affected due to the careless attitude of teachers, but all in vain,” said another student.

“We are being harassed as some students of my class had lodged a protest against teachers and the principal for mismanaging the school affairs,” said Basid Choudhary, a student. Parents of the suspended students approached the school authorities, but the matter could not be resolved. Finally, a delegation of parents met District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Sawgat Biswas under the leadership of former Minister and Senior Congress leader Thakur Puran Singh.

“The DDC assured us that he would personally visit the school to sort out differences among students and teachers,” Puran Singh said

Biswas said some students had misbehaved with teachers in the school. “No student has been suspended till now. We are investigating the matter. If any student is found guilty, he will be dismissed from the school,” he added.
