Contours of fashion
A fantasy, a whim, a need to look better, fashion is all about how you perceive it…
Fashion, to some, is frivolity. For others, it’s a fantasy. When Marc Jacobs says something on fashion, it becomes a part of the quotable quotes. Period. He struck many a chords with the recent statement, “Anything to me that is part of the joy, the ritual, of getting dressed — things that women enjoy like bags, shoes, fragrance, clothes, make-up - that’s what fashion’s about for me.” Coco Chanel wouldn’t be what she is if she didn’t view fashion as “something that doesn’t exist in dresses only.” Donatella Versace stating, “Fashion is all about happiness. It’s fun. But it’s not medicine,” is as true as indubitable.
How our homegrown designers view the concept is not very different. “Fashion, to begin with, can’t be defined.

On sale—success
In his latest book — You Can Sell —motivational speaker Shiv Khera talks about the art of selling successfully

In contrast to what Neha Dhupia claimed once upon a time, “only sex and Shah Rukh Khan sell in India”, job-seekers in interviews, lawyers, politicians, salesmen…just about everybody is in the selling business, selling just-about-everything! It’s this aspect of our society that is the subject of motivational speaker Shiv Khera’s latest book — You Can Sell. “Success today is determined by one’s ability or inability to sell,” says the author.

Get your priorities right
I am 30 and have been living with my parents for the last year as my wife and
I are separated. We lived together for three years and had known each other
before marriage. However, I was not able to sustain my career as I should have.
I am basically a person who does not push much. My wife felt I did not try hard
enough. I was fairly good as a student but my family felt I did not achieve my
potential. Now I am working in a call centre. I want to make things work out
with my wife but when she is critical of me I end up feeling very low.
