Designer duo Jai (left) and Parvesh walk the ramp with a show-stopper Fashion, to some, is frivolity. For others, it’s a fantasy. When Marc Jacobs says something on fashion, it becomes a part of the quotable quotes. Period. He struck many a chords with the recent statement, “Anything to me that is part of the joy, the ritual, of getting dressed — things that women enjoy like bags, shoes, fragrance, clothes, make-up - that’s what fashion’s about for me.” Coco Chanel wouldn’t be what she is if she didn’t view fashion as “something that doesn’t exist in dresses only.” Donatella Versace stating, “Fashion is all about happiness. It’s fun. But it’s not medicine,” is as true as indubitable. How our homegrown designers view the concept is not very different. “Fashion, to begin with, can’t be defined.

It’s this aspect of our society that is the subject of motivational speaker Shiv Khera’s latest book — You Can Sell. “Success today is determined by one’s ability or inability to sell,” says the author.
