BJP gives credit to Modi for convictions
Faraz Ahmad/TNS

New Delhi, April 9
On a day when Narendra Modi-baiters were celebrating the result of an online poll by an international magazine in which the BJP leader got more ‘no’ votes than ‘yes’ on whether or not he should be included in the list of 100 most influential people, the BJP credited his government for the conviction of 23 persons in the Ode killing case.

Referring to the court verdict, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar commended the Gujarat Government for ensuring these convictions.

Comparing Gujarat to the 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom involving the Congress government, Javadekar said: “In Gujarat, those involved in riots are being convicted and sentenced. But in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, not a single person has been convicted so far.”

He also alleged that had it not been for some activists who had tried to create obstacles in court proceedings, these convictions might have been handed down much earlier.

BJP’s defence of Modi has come at a time when his baiters are complimenting each other on the success of their worldwide campaign against the man perceived for his tacit approval of the selected targeting of Muslims in his state post-Godhra.
