27-kg tumour removed from woman’s body

Jalandhar, April 7
In a rare surgery, a tumour weighing 27 kg was removed from a woman’s body by a team of doctors at Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences. Sumitra (55) from Nepal had come to PIMS complaining of pain during breathing and walking. After tests, it was found that the patient had a tumour.

A team of surgeons, headed by Dr Disha Syal, conducted a four-hour surgery. The tumour occupied whole of the abdomen displacing the intestine, stomach and liver superiorly. — TNS
