4 killed in accidents Tarn Taran, March 11 According to information, Ramanpreet Kaur, her son Gurnoor Singh and husband Kawaljit Singh, residents of Kot Mehtab village in Beas, were going in a Zen car (PB-02 AQ 2672), being driven by Kawaljit Singh, from Chohla Sahib to Fatehbad village. When they reached the T-point on the Tarn Taran-Goindwal Sahib road, a Scorpio hit their car. Mohinder Singh, who was driving Scorpio, was seriously injured along with four others. They have been admitted to the Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. The Scorpio was a part of a marriage party and going to border township of Bhikhiwind. Ramanpreet and her son were killed on the spot. Kawaljit Singh, who was seriously wounded, was admitted to Guru Ram Das Hospital, Amritsar. Hardeep Singh, SHO, Goindwal Sahib, said the police had registered a case under Sections 304, 338, 427 and 279 of the IPC against Mohinder Singh. Hoshiarpur: Two persons have been killed in road accidents in the district since last evening. According to police sources, Tilak Raj of Beh Nangal was killed when the scooter he was riding was hit by some unidentified vehicle near Thara Sahib Gurdwara. He was going to his village from Sandhwal. In another accident, Sunil Chadha of Hariana town was killed when a Skoda car (PB-08-BC-8292) hit the motorcycle he was riding near Adda Bhikhowal last night. After the accident, driver of the car Garish Batra of Hoshiarpur fled after leaving his vehicle behind. |

Vegetable supplier robbed of

Hoshiarpur, March 11 Raj Kumar of Gol Hatti Chowk, Amritsar, stated to the police that he was supplying fruit and vegetables to Himachal Pradesh. Yesterday he was returning to Amritsar after collecting money in TATA 407 truck from Himachal Pradesh. When he reached near Mandiala on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar road at about 5.30 pm some persons riding a motorcycle signalled them to stop. After assaulting the cleaner of the truck with swords they snatched the cash bag containing Rs 7 lakh and fled. |
