9 factory workers charred to death in Roorkee Haridwar, February 9 Seven fire tenders were requisitioned to tackle the situation. Additional tenders were also called in from nearby regions later as wind intensified the flames. By 2 am, fire fighters managed to put out the fire. Haridwar District Magistrate D Senthyl Pendiyan has ordered a magisterial inquiry. The Haridwar ADM will probe the matter and submit a report in a fortnight. The Haridwar District Magistrate has recommended compensation for the victims in accordance with factory laws. Chief Minister BC Khanduri has expressed deep shock over the tragic incident.
