Government defends FDI in retail
Industry, SAD hail reform; BJP cries foul

While industry bodies and organised domestic retail companies today welcomed the government decision to allow 51 per cent foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail (100 per cent in single brand) as a ‘game changer’, the BJP, the Left, JD(U) and even UPA constituent Trinamool Congress vehemently voiced their opposition in Parliament and outside.

Three years on, scars remain and so does the pain
New Delhi, November 25
Three years after the Mumbai attack, the victims of the carnage plotted in Pakistan wait for justice even as Delhi and Islamabad push forward their peace process to normalise ties. Indian officials acknowledge that Pakistan has done precious little to bring to book the perpetrators of the attack who continue to roam about freely in the neighbouring country, enjoying the official patronage.
