Delhi-Ludhiana Shatabdi from November 4

Chandigarh, October 30
The Malwa region in Punjab will get Shatabdi train services from November 4 with the start of the Delhi-Sangrur- Ludhiana Shatabdi. The Shatabdi, which will run every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, will start at 6.30 am from New Delhi and reach Ludhiana between 11.30 and 12 noon. On its way back, it will start from Ludhiana at 4.30 pm and reach Delhi around 9.30 - 10 pm.

Disclosing this, Sangrur MP Vijay Inder Singla said the Shatabdi would boost travel between Delhi and Sangrur and would go a long way in helping commerce in the Malwa region. He said while there were a number of trains linking Ludhiana with Delhi, this was not the case with Sangrur. He said he would be taking up the issue of modernising the railway track on the Sangrur-Rohtak line so that more trains could be introduced to link the Malwa region with others parts of the country.

The Shatabdi will run via Rohtak on its way to and from Delhi. The Railways is set to upgrade signalling as well as track facilities on the route.
