It was a moment of vindication for LK Advani. The man, riding the chariot of his supreme popularity on the wave of Ram Mandir agitation in 1990, had been stopped at Samastipur by the then Chief Minister Lalu Prasad. And today, Advani was anointed by the present Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as a non-controversial leader, fit to rid the nation of all corruption.

PM echoes US fears over safety of nukes in neighbourhood
New Delhi, October 11
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today echoed the fears being expressed internationally over the safety of nuclear arsenal in India’s neighbourhood. Without naming Pakistan, the Prime Minister, while addressing the top military commanders of the three forces here, said, “Nuclear proliferation and nuclear safety are serious threats in our neighbourhood.”

In Hisar, Cong candidate ‘poorest’
Hisar/Chandigarh, October 11
Although corruption is said to be a key issue in the Hisar byelection to the Lok Sabha, neither Team Anna nor the media evinced much interest in the assets declared by the three main contestants all these weeks. While the campaigning came to an end today, the polling is scheduled on Thursday while the counting of votes will take place on October 17.
