BSF seizes heroin worth Rs 135 crore from Amritsar border village Rajatal (Amritsar), Oct 6 Two BSF jawans first observed some movement along the Indo-Pak border fence and then heard the sound of something being thrown near it. As the patrol party rushed to the spot and challenged the smugglers, they took off under cover fire. The jawans retaliated and foiled the attempt of the Pakistani smugglers to cross over to India. “Our jawans observed some movement near border post 110/20. After a few minutes, they heard the sound of something being thrown next to the fence. The jawans rushed to the spot and challenged the infiltrators who fled on seeing the jawans coming towards them,” Additional Director General Himmat Singh Gill said. He said the jawans came under fire when the smugglers opened fire in order to get away. The jawans retaliated and as many as 10 rounds were fired at the miscreants. However, they managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness and standing paddy crop, added Himmat Singh. The patrol party, along with BSF officials, searched the area and found nine bags containing 27 kg of heroin on the patrol track, said the the ADG. All the packets have a stamp with number 666 to indicate that these have been manufactured in Pakistan. The BSF has decided to lodge a protest with Pakistan Rangers. Meanwhile, it has seized fake Indian currency worth Rs 1.98 lakh from Ferozepur sector.
