Pulok Chatterjee joins PMO
Our Political Correspondent

New Delhi, October 3
Pulok Chatterjee, known for his proximity to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, took over as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s principal secretary today.

His predecessor TKA Nair has been redesignated as Adviser to the Prime Minister. Chatterjee, who has already done a stint in the PMO during UPA-I, returned to take over his new post after a stint with the World Bank. The 1974-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre is expected to serve as a crucial link between the PMO and the Congress president’s office at a time when the UPA government is lurching from one crisis to another. Chatterjee had earlier worked with the late Rajiv Gandhi and was subsequently attached with Sonia Gandhi when she was the leader of the Opposition.
