Tribune News Service

New Delhi, October 3
The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police today registered a FIR against Janta Party president Subramanian Swamy in connection with a July 17 article written by him in a newspaper with alleged anti-Muslim overtones and detrimental to peace.

According to the police, the case has been registered under Section 153A of the IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony). Confirming the FIR, DCP (Crime) Ashok Chand said senior advocate RK Anand had filed a complaint against Swamy in the matter.

In the article published under the headline ‘How to wipe out Islamic terror’, Swamy had suggested that Indian Hindus should collectively respond to terror acts.
