SC raises Himachal’s power share from Bhakra, Beas
New Delhi, September 27
Himachal Pradesh got a bonanza today as the Supreme Court substantially raised its share of electricity from the Bhakra and Beas hydro power projects with retrospective effect from 1966 in the case of Bhakra-Nangal and from the date of commissioning of Units I and II of Beas -- all at the cost of Punjab and Haryana.

Cash-for-Vote scam
Advani’s ex-aide Kulkarni held
New Delhi, September 27
Sudheendra Kulkarni, a BJP activist and a former aide of senior BJP leader LK Advani, was today put under arrest and sent to judicial custody till October 1 after a city court hearing the 2008 cash-for-vote scam rejected his interim bail. Appearing before the court of Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal today morning, Kulkarni sought relief claiming that he was a “whistleblower” and only intended to “expose the corruption”. However, court dismissed his plea on the grounds that it was without merits and fixed October 1 as the next date for hearing into his plea for regular bail.

Omar Abdullah, Jammu & Kashmir CMJammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today offered DNA profiling to unravel the mystery of the unmarked graves in the state. In a spirited reply to the discussion in the Assembly, he called upon relatives of “missing persons” to come forward with samples and relevant information.

Asserting that there cannot be a “selective approach” in the fight against terrorism, India today hoped that Pakistan will be “serious” in dismantling terror camps on its soil and live up to its pronouncements. “I am sure they (Pakistan) will realise and they have, by now they should have (realised) that terrorism cannot be fought selectively.”
