Mirroring the steep fall in global markets, the Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensitive Index (Sensex) fell 704 points today, its worst fall in two years on worries over the weak economic situation in the US and the spreading European debt crisis.

Mansur Ali Khan Tiger of cricket dies at 70
New Delhi, September 22
Diagnosed with an incurable lung disorder, former India cricket captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi breathed his last today evening at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here after a month-long battle with lung infection. The 70-year-old cricketer, known as 'Tiger' in the cricket fraternity, was suffering from interstitial lung disease, a condition in which the passage of oxygen to the two lungs is less than normal.

The recently-concluded Test series between England and India was also the last time Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi was seen at a public forum.
The rather slipshod manner in which India’s youngest-ever Test captain was treated on the dais while presenting the Pataudi Trophy to the winning side had added some unsavoury seasoning to an already bitter tour.

Two IITians among 400 richest Americans
Washington, September 22
Two IIT alumni have made it to the Forbes' list of the 400 richest Americans, topped for the 18th year in a row by Bill Gates with Warren Bharat Desai and Vinod Khosla Buffett in second spot.
According to the US business magazine, Bharat Desai with $1.35 billion gets the 329th spot with Vinod Khosla two notches below at 331st place with $1.3 billion.

Oz eases visa requirements to woo Indian students
New Delhi, September 22
Concerned over the sharp decline in the number of foreign students Down Under following a spate of attacks last year, Australia today announced significant changes in visa requirements for Indian and other overseas students to win back their confidence.
Under the new arrangements, international students enrolled in courses at the level of bachelor degree or higher will be treated as lower risk applicants regardless of their country of origin.
