"Fighting hard to remove the taint of 2002 violence, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today began a three-day fast for peace and communal harmony vowing to end the  vote-bank politics.

12 injured in blast at Agra hospital
Lucknow, September 17
At least 12 persons were injured in a low-intensity explosion in the reception area of a private hospital in Agra today evening. The blast took place in the reception area of Jai Hospital on Agra’s Sikandra Road at around 5.45 pm. Police sources said that the bomb had been placed under one of the Security officers examine the blast site in Agra. chairs there. Pakistan military while the United States should do everything possible to assist Pakistan in protecting its nuclear arsenal, a high-powered Indo-US joint study group has suggested. The report of the study group, co-sponsored by the US Council on Foreign Relations and the Aspen Institute India and titled “The United States and India: A Shared Strategic Future’’, was released here today by former Indian Ambassador to the US Naresh Chandra and strategic affairs expert C Raja Mohan.

A government employee makes poll arrangements in Amritsar.The stage is all set for the 14th Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) election in three states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Comprehensive arrangements have been made in these states where over 55 lakh voters will exercise their franchise to send 170 persons to the General House of the SGPC, considered as a mini Parliament by the Sikhs.
