Ahmedabad next target: Fresh mails
New Delhi, September 9
The Indian Mujahideen in two fresh mails today warned that they would carry out next blast in Gujarat’s Capital Ahmedabad. The last email (fourth in total ) was sent from gmail id chotoominani5@gmail.com this evening at 6:39 pm from which an electronic message was received yesterday. It claimed that Indian Mujahideen had executed the Delhi High Court blast after a lot of consideration and also challenged the National Investigation Agency and the Delhi Police to trace the mails.

Expect more rain as monsoon extends its stay
New Delhi, September 9
The withdrawal of monsoon from the country has been delayed. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the entire northwest - Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and the Jammu region - during the next two days.

Fleeing from encounter deserves dismissal: SC
New Delhi, September 9
The Supreme Court has endorsed the dismissal of three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for showing “cowardice and running away” from an encounter with five militants, who had ambushed their vehicle in Assam in March 1999. The Central Reserve Police Force had removed the personnel from service in January 2000 after a departmental inquiry under the CRPF Rules, 1955.

Govt officials may be allowed to use Facebook
Ahmedabad, September 9
The government is planning to put in place a framework for officials that would allow them to leverage the power of the social media, a top official of the Department of Information and Technology (DIT) said here today. “We are creating a framework that would help Central departments and officials to use social media like Facebook, Twitter effectively,” said Additional Secretary DIT, Shankar Aggarwal.

Interest rates to remain high: SBI
Chandigarh, September 9
State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s  largest lender, has said that lending rates would continue to be high in the wake of spiraling inflation. “Interest rates are likely to remain high because inflation is high ... till such time, inflation is high, Reserve Bank finds it difficult to lower the interest,” SBI Chairman Pratip Chaudhuri said.
