Capt misleading farmers: Sukhbir

Bathinda: Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal today accused PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh of trying to mislead the farmers on the Gobindpura thermal power plant issue.Campaigning for the SGPC elections here, he said during Amarinder’s own regime, fertile land was forcibly acquired at a throwaway price for an industrial house in Barnala and two protesting farmers were killed in police firing. The farmers were given enhanced prices only after the SAD government came to power. He said the acquisition of about 10,000 acres during the past four years was with the consent of the farmers who were given compensation more than the prevailing market price. Sukhbir said that most farmers of Gobindpura had willingly offered their land for the thermal project.
