In a major victory for Team Anna and his followers, the Delhi Police today allowed the Gandhian to hold a 15-day fast in support of a strong Lokpal Bill at the historic Ramlila Maidan here from tomorrow. A compromise to end the three-day standoff was reached in the wee hours today after a meeting between Police Commissioner B K Gupta and four key members of Team Anna -- Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan, Kiran Bedi and Manish Sisodia.

Rajya Sabha okays Sen’s impeachment

Sending out a strong message against corruption in high places, the Rajya Sabha today voted for the removal of Justice Soumitra Sen, a Judge of the Calcutta High Court, for alleged misconduct by adopting an impeachment motion with an overwhelming majority.

SC eases cut-off for OBC students
New Delhi, August 18
The Supreme Court today eased the norms for admission of students from the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in central educational institutions under the 27 per cent OBC quota. The move will help a larger number of OBC candidates getting admission and eliminate or minimise the number of unfilled OBC seats getting passed on to the general category.
