New Delhi, July 16
Investigators probing Wednesday’s blasts in Mumbai have concluded that it was the handiwork of experts who have been associated closely with explosives in the past and have the knowledge in handling sensitive material like TNT that is normally used in military ammunition.

“It was not some crude job, the bombs were sophisticated and the blasts carried the hallmark of someone who had intense knowledge about the triggering mechanism for a material like TNT”, sources said while admitting that the probe was being spread across the country.

Indian Mujahideen is among the suspects, said a senior functionary adding that no prime suspect has been found so far and there has been no breakthrough.

Forensic experts have gathered evidence about the nature of bombs. It is now clear that a mixture of ammonium nitrate, Trinitro Toluene (TNT) and fuel oil was used while an electric timer triggered it. The timers and the use of TNT is not in the open domain.

TNT is a military ammunition, said sources, adding that those behind the Mumbai blasts were exposed to these techniques. The point was who was involved in training and where did the TNT come from, the sources added.
